The EMH deals with a very important issue in finances, it explains why prices change in markets and how these changes happen. This is a very important question for both financial managers and investors. The EMH suggests that getting a profit from predicting price changing is quite difficult. The engine of changing prices is the new information, so the market can be effective if prices change quickly and without prejudgment to new information that arrives constantly. As a result of this process, the prices reflect the information available for any point of time. Three forms of EMH As we said above, the EMH presumes that prices on the market should consolidate all available information at the point of time. But there are different sorts of information that can influence prices, so financial researches define three forms of the EMH depending on the information: Weak EMH form â€" according to this definition, the current price includes information that contains only in the past history of market prices. In this way its impossible to predict changing price in the future. Semi-strong EMH form â€" according to this definition, the current price includes all publicly information. Strong EMH form â€" this definition states that the current price includes all information, both private and public. Implications of market efficiency for financial managers If the market is efficient, here are the main implication for financial managers: The price always reflects the worth of the company, without any valuation, because prices in the market are fair. Anyone cant use creative accounting techniques, misleading the markets. The managers should ensure that all investments exceed the cost of capital of the company. Its possible to sell a lot of new shares without lowering the price. Its impossible and useless for the company to try changing the markets view because the market will decide itself what level of return is required for the involved risk. Takeovers and merges may be questioned if share are correctly priced. Implications of market efficiency for individual investors Equity research is expensive and pointless because it provides no benefits for the company. Its better to use strategies that require minimal execution costs (for example, indexing to the market or randomly diversified portfolio are perfect). The strategy that have minimal transaction costs should give higher returns in the long period. So, individual investors cant make good profits by using active management strategies. Returns can be easily optimized by asset allocation and by reducing investment taxes and costs. If the market is efficient, there is less possibility to make a speculative profit. Many times, people arrested and placed in jail can post bail and be released within a matter of hours. Judge Must Set Bail in Some Cases For more serious crimes, such as violent crimes, felonies, or multiple offenses, a judge or magistrate may have to set the bail amount. If this is the case, you may have to remain in jail until the next available court date. If you are arrested over the weekend, for example, you may have to wait until Monday to find out the amount of your bail. In some states, you can be held up to five days before seeing a judge. Bail is usually set in an amount necessary to guarantee that you will return to court at the appointed time. The greater your crime, the more likely you may be attempted not to return to court, so the greater the amount of bail. Purchasing a Bail Bond If you do not have the money to post bail, you may be able to purchase a bail bond instead. Usually handled through a bail bondsman who will post your bail for you in exchange for a fee (usually around 10 percent of your bail). For example, if your bail is set at $2000, a bail bond agent will probably charge you $200. You may have to put up some collateral or some other guarantee to convince the bondsman that you will show up for court. The difference between bail and a bond is, if you post bail yourself, you will get your money back when you appear on time for court. If you pay a bail bondsman, you will not get that money back, because it is a fee for his services. Released on Own Recognizance The best option that you can get, if you have been arrested, is being released on your own recognizance. In this case, you do not pay bail at all; you just sign a statement promising to return to court on a certain date. Being released OR, as it is sometimes called, is not available to everyone. To be released on your own recognizance, you must have strong ties to the community, either through family or business or be a lifelong or long-time member of the community. If you have no previous criminal history or if you have had only minor infractions and have a history of showing up in court when you are supposed to, you might also be released on your own recognizance. Failure to Appear In either case, if you fail to show up for court at the appointed time, there will be consequences. Usually, a bench warrant is immediately issued for your arrest. If it is believed that you left the state, a federal warrant can be issued for your arrest for fleeing to avoid prosecution. If you, a family member or friend posted your bail, that money will be confiscated and never returned. If you paid a bails bondsman, the bonding agent could send a bounty hunter across jurisdictional lines to capture you. If you were released on your own recognizance and failed to show up for your court date, when you are caught you may be held without bond until your trial. At the very least, you will probably never be released on your own recognizance again.

According to the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Service) there are two classes of illegal immigrants. First class corresponds to â€Å"over-stayers†, and this refers to those people who at some point legally entered the United States under any kind of visa, and simply stayed once that document expired. Most of this â€Å"over-stayers† are foreigners who came to the United States with student visas, or who came here with tourist/business visas. Even though once they over stay they are considered illegal immigrants, the government has an idea of who those people are because these kind of immigrants need to go through extensive filters in the American embassies of their country in order to get an American visa. On the other hand, the USCIS also has the Illegal Alien classification. These are the people who enter the United States without any kind of legal registry or document. The vast majority of these illegal aliens enter the United States through the Mexican border. Also, most of these immigrants are of Hispanic origins, specifically Mexicans. â€Å"Between now and 2020, the Hispanic population will increase by 77%, compared to a 69% for Asians, 32% for African Americans, 26% for Native Americans, and 1% for non-Hispanic whites, according to the Alliance for Excellent Education. As a result, by 2020 the nation’s adult population, ages 25 to 64, will be 63 percent white, 17 percent Hispanic, 13 percent African American, 6 percent Asian, and about 1% native American† highlighted in Hardy, page 5). This illegal immigration issue has am impact in every aspect of the American way of life. Many will say and prove that the illegal immigration problem is out of control. It is estimated that more than 20 million people live illegally in the United States. Those who are pro illegal immigration insist that is wrong to label these people as â€Å"cri minals† since their only â€Å"crime† is to come to America in search of better opportunities, in search of what for any reason they cannot have in their homeland. They claim that they come here to work, â€Å"to do the jobs most American will not do†. Many of these groups believe that amnesty should be granted to those who meet some basic requirements, such as living in the United States continuously for more than 7 years, not having a criminal record etc. Illegal immigration groups have deep roots in many places in America and they have supporter that will do anything in order to protect the â€Å"basic rights† of the individuals that find themselves in this dilemma. A very good example of this, are the so called Sanctuary Cities: â€Å"In the United States, a number of cities in the southwest have declared themselves cities of refugee or asylum for undocumented immigrants. In April 2006, for example, Oakland, California city officials declared that would no longer cooperate with federal officials in conducting raids to capture undocumented immigrants† (highlighted in Carlson, page 267). These cities actually facilitate the stay of illegal immigrants by providing free medical care, no checks for obtaining jobs, no checks for renting a home just to name a few. San Francisco is well known to be a major Sanctuary city for illegal immigrants. Many of the illegal immigrants also use the â€Å"Anchor Baby† phenomenon. Meaning they will have kids in American soil who have the right to citizenship, in the hopes that one day they will obtain citizenship too through their American-born kids. They take advantage of the 14th Amendment, which grants citizenship to any person born in American soil. This is an outdated law that, after the end of the American Civil War, granted citizenship to the newly freed African American slaves. Illegal immigrants do not pay income taxes but at the same time have access to all the benefits provided by the taxpayers. Also the school systems are overcrowded in many states, thanks to the increasing number of illegal immigrants. In many cases, being an illegal immigrant can actually benefit these people: â€Å"Texas was the first state to respond, passing legislation granting in-state tuition rates to illegal students in 2001. California followed later that year. Other states that have enacted such laws include Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Utah, and Washington† (highlighted in Gilroy, page 16). Many anti-amnesty groups explain that opposing the amnesty is not a racial issue, but a matter of doing what’s right. The United States of America is a country of law, and by entering illegally they’re already breaking the law, right from the beginning. It’s not being anti immigration, â€Å"legal† is the key word here. Granting citizenship to illegal alien would encourage more illegal immigration. Not only that, but it will be taken as an insult by all the legal immigrants who did the right thing and followed the rules of the game to be in the United States. Most legal immigrants spend a lot of time and effort in order to get here, in some cases having to pay thousands of dollars and having to wait years for that privilege. The dram act is another attempt by illegal-immigrant supporters to legalize their status. It basically would give a path to citizenship to illegal immigrants who came to the United States as children, brought by their parents and with no faults of their own. They would have to be under the age of 16, have finished High School, free of criminal records and willing to serve in the military for at least two years. While this might sound fair for the illegals, then again it is unfair for those who came here legally and many people see this as another invitation to come to this country illegally. It is true, there must be an immigration reform, and a solution must be found to deal with the millions of illegal immigrants currently in America. Until that happens, the government should do all in its power to stop this issue from becoming bigger. The borders need to be secured and the constitution amended so illegal aliens stop taking advantage of the â€Å"anchor baby† tactic. Grammar Notes Habà ­a una vez is a common way of saying once upon a time. Its literal meaning is there was a time. Habà ­a is the imperfect tense of the very common hay, which means there is or there are. Muchachita is a diminutive form of muchacha, a word for girl. The diminutive is formed here using the suffix -ita. The diminutive form can indicate that the girl is small or can be used to indicate affection. Abuelita, a form of abuela or grandmother, is another diminutive found in this story. In that case, it is probably being used as a term of affection rather than referring to her size. The name of the story itself is another diminiutive; a caperuza is a hood. The dashes beginning in the fifth paragraph function as type of quotation mark. Within the rehabilitation unit, there are rewards for brilliant ideas on handling and relating to patients. However, the people in management opt to wait to reward in future other than go for rewards in the present (Sullivan, 2013). On one such occasion, I managed to contain a difficult patient and every nurse in the unit got excited about the patient’s outcome in a week. I was not rewarded as the unit management remained quiet. The tundra artic plains completely covering most of the earth’s lands north of the coniferous forest belt. The tundra’s ecosystem is very sensitive. It doesn’t have a good ability to restore itself. Controlled by sedge, heath, willow, moss, and lichen. Plains that are pretty much alike, called alpine tundra, occur above the timberline in the high mountains of the world. Even the Antarctic area has a couple of its own arctic regions itself.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The climate of the tundra is characterized by harsh winters. The average temperature in the tundra area is about –27 degrees. But what is even worse are the long night. At nights the lowest temperture recorded was –67.36 degrees. There are even times in the year when the sun doesn’t come up for days. In the tundra we have little snow and even less rainfall. The rainfall is about a quarter inch in a yearly rainfall. Even though the tundra’s winters are long a harsh there summers are the shortest season of all. Do to the terrible weather and climate in the tundra their animals and plant life is very limited. This artic tundra is mainly formed by permafrost, â€Å"a layer of permanently frozen subsoil in the ground. Putting frozen ground and flat landscape stops the drainage of water. As the water is being held up on the surface it makes ponds and bogs that give moisture for the plants, or countering the low precipitation. â€Å"The periodic freezing and thawing of the soil forms cracks in the ground in regularly patterned polygons†. Some areas are not drained very well causing irregular landforms. Some of these landforms like the following hummocks, or knolls, frost boils, and earth stripes. Another common area to the alpine tundra is a â€Å"bare rock covered ground† also known as fell fields, in which not alone support but helps the growth of lichens. The many â€Å"microhabitats† given by these landforms provide a variety to the tundra’s landscape. As you already know the amount of different plant species in the tundra is very few. Also their growth level is low, â€Å"with most of the biomass concentrated in the roots. To add to the many difficulties the growing season isn’t very long its self. The plants are better off â€Å"to reproduce vegetative by division and budding than sexually by flower pollination†. Essay About Literature Essay

Literature is timeless, it endured all the changes of the past and is still is being appreciated till the present time and will still be as time goes by.  Literature exists in every country, in every language, and in every period but each has its own uniqueness that stands out for their styles. It exceeds time; literary works of famous people regardless of what period in time they came from is still being appreciated, if not more than when the period it is from. Literary works from the early periods had undergone different adaptations by the later periods to preserve the author’s great work, the ideas, and the creativity they instil in every words to make it live through time. There is a purpose for reading literary works – to entertain and educate its readers or audience. Reading, for example, a novel is just like watching a movie in a very slow pace; reading can make you cry, laugh, smile, get angry and whatnot just like watching a movie; reading lets us imagine the characters, the settings, and what happens in the story. As it entertains us, it also educates us and teaches us about life experiences that we might encounter, and the morals that we should possess. Other literary works inform us about happenings in daily life which also falls in educating the readers. There are different types of literary works, it doesn’t just end with reading materials, and it can also be in a form of a song and a play. It can be performed in front of people or just enjoyed by oneself; it has different genres to offer to different interests of people. Literature is everywhere and in any time and it knows no bounds.

At one point in our lives, we have all disguised our true identity and pretended to be someone we are not. We all have sat abaft a screen pretending to be the antithesis sex, or just someone innominate in order to get our true feelings and emotions out. Similarly, Shakespeare utilizes the theme of disguise in countless plays, specifically in As you like it and Twelfth Night. Although many may postulate that he has disguised certain characters as the opposite gender solely for comedic purposes, the reason behind it is significantly deeper and complex. By disguising the actors as the opposite gender, also known as cross-dressing, Shakespeare introduces incipient views on femininity and sexuality, views that were unmentionable in the Elizabethan times. It’s virtually as if Shakespeare is endeavoring to break the rules of society, break the rules of gender roles and sexuality roles. He represents women and sexuality in a way that was unacceptable in that time in society, but his purpose of doing this is to open up the minds of society to be more accepting of these gender and sexuality roles.
